Porcelain Veneers
What are veneers?
Porcelain veneers are porcelain shells about 0.3–0.7 mm thick that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Much less tooth structure is removed than with crowns, which makes veneers one of the most conservative cosmetic options for preserving natural teeth.
Who are they for?
- Discoloration that does not respond to whitening
- Small gaps, chips and wear on front teeth
- Anyone who wants to harmonize the length or shape of their teeth
For patients who clench or grind their teeth, veneers are planned together with a night guard.
Treatment steps
- Digital smile planning and an intraoral trial (mock-up)
- Minimal reduction of the tooth surfaces and taking impressions
- Trying in the veneers and bonding them with special adhesives
How long do they last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, veneers keep their color and shine for many years. Porcelain resists staining; however, flossing is important to keep the bonded margins healthy.
